My Views on the Application of Post-Grouting Technology to Bored Tubular Piles
As one of the most widely used forms of building foundations, pile foundations offer many advantages: high bearing capacity, simple construction, relatively low cost, short construction periods, and minimal requirements for the construction site. However, bored cast-in-place piles formed with mud slurry wall protection have low shaft friction resistance, and the sediment at the pile tip is difficult to clean out and its thickness is hard to control (being subject to many human factors), which limits their use in high-rise buildings. Nevertheless, pressure grouting theory has already been widely used to reinforce shield-driven subway tunnels. As a relatively mature new technique, its advantages have led construction researchers to begin applying it extensively in civil buildings. Combining post-grouting technology with bored cast-in-place piles not only improves the safety and stability of the piles but also substantially increases their bearing capacity at a modest additional investment.
