Technical Application of Sleeve-Valve-Pipe Dual-Liquid Grouting for Strengthening Deep Sand Layers to Prevent Hole Collapse in Impact-Bored Piles at the Wutongshu Building in Hengqin, Zhuhai
At the Wutongshu Building in the Hengqin New Area of Zhuhai, the gravelly sand layer is deeply buried, thick, water-rich, and highly permeable. After excavation for the tower's cast-in-place piles, additional piles had to be installed; during the impact-boring of these replacement piles, the large hydraulic head difference created by the excavation led to continuous water inflow, running sand, and hole collapse. The causes of the drilling failures were analyzed in detail, and following verification, the sleeve-valve-pipe dual-liquid stratified grouting method was selected to strengthen and seal off the deep gravelly sand layer at and around the pile locations. The construction scheme for sleeve-valve-pipe dual-liquid grouting is described in detail. The strengthened gravelly sand layer met the requirements for impact boring, the running sand and hole collapse were brought under control, and the replacement pile construction was completed smoothly.
