Analysis of the Advantages and Disadvantages of Construction Techniques for Manually Excavated Piles versus Rotary Drilling Rig-Formed Piles
The construction of cast-in-place concrete piles formed by manual excavation offers advantages such as a simple operation process, convenient construction, and no need for large-scale mechanical equipment, and it is relatively common in the Chongqing region. However, the excavation process involves high labor intensity, slow construction speed for a single pile, and very prominent safety hazards during construction. As the "Notice on Prohibiting and Restricting the Use of Outdated Technologies in the Construction Field of Chongqing Municipality (No. 7)" (Yu Jian Fa [2011] No. 133) is about to prohibit some manually excavated cast-in-place piles, this paper mainly introduces the advantages and disadvantages of manual excavation and rotary drilling rigs, and explains that under the guidance of the principle of "people-oriented, scientific and technological progress," adopting advanced mechanical hole-forming techniques and gradually phasing out manual excavation techniques to further improve the construction safety environment is an inevitable trend in the development of civil engineering pile foundation construction technology.
